This artwork combines photography and painting in a multi-layered mixed-media composition. The underlying photograph was taken in a secluded cove on Mallorca. As I dove into the crystal-clear water, I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom and lightness – a fleeting moment that became the inspiration for this work.
In the lower part of the image, I digitally altered the water, transforming it into a dark, shimmering, mineral-like structure. This creates the impression of a hidden landscape beneath the water’s surface and a disorienting shift between organic and inorganic nature.
The abstract floral paintings echo the flowing movements of the water and blend floral forms with the dynamism of the sea. In this way, different elements of nature come together to form a poetic, organic visual world. The photograph was printed on high-quality paper and then mounted on a canvas frame – an unusual presentation method that preserves the paper’s unique texture and vibrancy.
